Impact Computers had on World
Knowing how big of an impact computers had on the world borders on common sense. An average person will interact with at least dozens of computers on a daily basis. Traffic lights, cars, phones, televisions, video games, and so much more. In fact, it'd be rare for a person to go one day without even seeing a computer. Of course, a simple house hold fan or something similar pales in consideration to far more remarkable application of computers.
Medicine

When somebody thinks of medicine, computers usually don'tome to mind. Even so, they have had a large impact on medicine today.
To the left is a picture of a CAT scan. Using this device, doctors can take 3D x-rays of a patient, allowing more detailed information in each section of the brain. There are also technologies that allow surgeons to do a surgery without being in the actual operating room due to new robotic technologies.
Most importantly, however, is the amount of information shown on the internet. People can generally find a doctor in the area easily, and have a vague idea of whatever ailment they have beforehand. Likewise, doctors can use the internet to obtain the records of their patient.

Travel

A huge part of our modern day lives today is travel. Everybody has someplace to go, and most often they will use some sort of automated vehicle to get there. Many of these vehicles will use a computer to run. For instance, a car will receive input from the driver (such as the steering wheel), and it'll output the action (such as turning the wheels). There are many more examples, most prevalent in transportation like airplanes.
Of course, that's not much compared to the GPS. With the GPS, we are able to pinpoint our location on Earth and use that to find out where to go. The days of using a compass and a map are gone with this new technology.

Communication

With computing available, the days of sending letters and receiving newspapers are gradually coming to an end. With computer technology, people could instantly call somebody from across the world. If a call couldn't be placed, then an email could be sent so the receiver could read the message letter. Soon, text messaging became available. Computers really changed how the world communicated.
In the past, news traveled a lot slower than it did now. Small towns wouldn't get news for a long time, and even the larger towns had some delay for news to travel. With computers, people could find the latest news with a remarkable speed and ease.

Weaponry

Of course, computers weren't all fun and games. They vastly changed how wars were fought. Guns weren't the most dangerous weapons any more, and cannon fire was improved to new levels. Missiles could be aimed towards a target from many miles away, and with deadly accuracy. Planes and other vehicles changed strategies, and created a new type of warfare.
There were many other highly destructive weapons that came out with computers. Nuclear bombs and other types of machinery relied on computers for the correct programming and behavior. The playing field became far more riskier with the threat of such destructive weaponry, but also contained more opportunities for growth due to the war potential.

Information, one of the most important features of modern computing. With computers, people are able to store nearly unlimited amounts of information. Movies, music, games, pictures, videos, text, and a whole bunch more. It's certainly one of the most important features of modern computing.
Not just can a computer store a large amount of information using 0's and 1's, but it can also be accessed with ease. In the past, folders and lots of papers were required to store information. It took up a lot of space, and required careful time management to keep everything organized. Now, a small box can contain many important documents that can be opened within seconds.
With all this information, there is also a new threat. Hackers are able to steal plenty of information and gain unfair advantages. It ends up becoming a battle to storing safe information and stealing information from other parties.
